The purpose of this research is to adapt and validate the scale ¿Why are you here
today?, which is orientated to measure the Motivational Profile of Situated Identity in
adults visitors of the Botanical and Zoological Foundation of Barranquilla. The pilot
sample consists of 200 subjects in the Barranquilla Zoo, located in Colombia, 59 % women and 41 % men, aged between 18 and 70 years. The instrument has 20 items that are rated on
a scale with 7 degrees of importance concerning the motivational profile consisted of five
dimensions: Explorers, Facilitators, Professional/Hobbyists, Experience Seekers and
Spiritual Pilgrims. Semantic adjustments are made to the items of the scale in the
adaptation; additionally it introduces a section that consists of 11 items, 5 that allows us to
identify issues related to the experience of visiting zoos, and 6 items associated ot the
sociodemographic characterization of the visitor. The statistical program SPSS indicates that the Cronbach alpha coefficient obtained is 0.85, which indicates a consistency index of
85% by expert judges, and a pilot validation of 0.83 which is equivalent to 83 % of reliability. Receiving as a final product a validated semantics and cultural adaptation of the
scale ¿WHY I CAME TO THE ZOO TODAY? which allows us to identify the Motivational Profile of Situated Identity in adults visitors of Zoos, as well that the Cronbach alpha coefficient obtained is 0.85, which indicates a consistency index of
