The main objective for which the task of preparing a Laboratory Manual was undertaken is to provide the student who is a student with the General Chemistry course with a basic knowledge that will allow him or her to begin the study of chemistry experimentally.
The manual is designed for the subject of General Chemistry Laboratory, which corresponds to the basic science cycle in the scientific and methodological field of the Engineering and Environmental Administration study plans and related programs.
The guides are designed so that the student can become familiar with the equipment, reagents and materials commonly used in laboratories and develop skills and abilities in handling them, assuming their work with an analytical criterion and not only with the curiosity to check phenomena
The laboratory practices manual will be available in print and / or virtual format and has the following structure:
• General information on the structure of the manual.
• General instructions for work in the laboratory.
• Instructions for the pre-report and laboratory report.
• Waste management.
• Bibliography.
• Annexes.
The structure of the manual, in regard to each practice, will be guided as follows:
• Name of the practice: comes from the phenomenon or law to be checked or demonstrated.
• Objectives: general and specific.
• Basic information: in this section of the guide, the student will have available a brief consultation on the topic to be worked on in order to initiate the preconception of the phenomenon under study and to promote the expansion of the information presented, especially in relation to the applications of process.
• Keywords: these mark the cognitive pattern in mnemonics and allow to expand a scientific vocabulary from the area of chemistry.
• Problematic situations: these are events proposed from various approaches that allow the student to consider the theoretical foundation of the topic to be worked on.
• Materials, equipment and reagents: these are the physical tools available to the laboratory for the student to develop their learning process.
• Experimentation with open variables: allows the student to propose logical and coherent procedures to achieve the objectives set.
• Evaluation questions: they are designed with the purpose of verifying the appropriation of the knowledge acquired during the experimentation.
In the manual, a series of photographs of the material and laboratory assemblies available in the different practices have been placed, as well as tables and annexes that complement the information of the same. At the end, information is presented on the management of the waste generated during the experimentation.
