Manual de prácticas de laboratorio de química orgánica
Libro
2016
The main objective for which the task of preparing this Manual of laboratory practices was undertaken is to provide the student who is studying the subject Basic organic chemistry (students of Engineering, Environmental Administration and of all related careers who need to check the wonderful world of the transformation of organic matter) a basic knowledge that allows you to start in the study of chemistry experimentally. The manual is designed for the Organic Chemistry Laboratory course corresponding to the basic science cycle of the scientific and methodological field of the Engineering, Environmental Administration and related programs that need it. The guides are designed so that the student can become familiar with the equipment, reagents and materials commonly used in laboratories and develop skills and abilities in handling them, assuming their role with an analytical criterion and not only with the curiosity to check phenomena The laboratory practice manual of Organic Chemistry (in its first version) will be available on the website of the University of Costa, in the institutional repository. This text presents the following structure: • General information on the structure of the manual • General instructions for work in the laboratory • Instructions for the pre-report and the laboratory report • Waste management • Bibliography • Annexes
The structure of the manual in regard to each practice will be guided as follows:
• Name of the practice: comes from the phenomenon or law to be checked or demonstrated.
• Objectives: general and specific.
• Basic information: in this section of the guide, the student will have at his disposal a brief consultation of the topic to be worked on in order to initiate the preconception of the phenomenon under study and to promote the expansion of the exposed information, especially with regard to the applications of the process.
• Keywords: these mark the cognitive pattern in mnemonics and allow to expand a scientific vocabulary from the area of chemistry.
• Problematic situations: these are events proposed from various approaches that allow the student to consider the theoretical foundation of the topic to be worked on.
• Materials, equipment and reagents: these are the physical tools available to the laboratory for the student to develop their learning process.
• Experimentation with open variables: allows the student to propose logical and coherent procedures to achieve the objectives set.
• Evaluation questions: they are designed with the purpose of verifying the appropriation of the knowledge acquired during the experimentation.
The manual has placed a series of photographs of the material and laboratory assemblies available in the different practices, as well as tables and annexes that complement the information of the same.
Finally, a proposal for the management of hazardous waste that would be generated during the development of these practices is presented. This material is part of the Handbook for Respiratory Management of the Chemistry Laboratory [12], which is published in the institutional repository of the Universidad de la Costa.
