The family business forms a space for the acquisition and expression of values, attitudes and knowledge that contribute to the integral development of the individual, allowing him not only the satisfaction of his material needs but also the possibility of developing his creative and entrepreneurial spirit. Considering this perspective, the present article composes a reflection of the entrepreneurial activity as a key element of the emergence of family businesses, taking into account some data of the last years of the Venezuela case. The nature of the study is descriptive, with an analytical approach, whose source of information is essentially documentary. The findings show that the entrepreneurial spirit is the axis or engine that makes possible the start of most of this type of business, where in the Venezuela case, experiences have been hampered by an unencouraging business climate. It is concluded that these companies play a fundamental role in the growth and economic development of every nation; they come from an entrepreneurial impulse that initiates an individual. That is why it is necessary to create optimal conditions that strengthen the entrepreneurial capacity of society, based on an integrated training of incentives, values and principles, as well as in a favorable environment aimed at promoting business activity.
