This research work identifies and describes the problems that affect the student population of the
Primary Basic cycle at the Educational Institution of the Sagrada Familia on the island of San
Andrés, where there are situations of verbal, physical and psychological aggression, which
negatively impacts the school climate, the processes of coexistence and the academic
performance of the students. The study is framed within the interpretive paradigm, the type of
descriptive-explanatory research, the mixed (qualitative-quantitative) approach and the inductive
method. The population is made up of 330 students in grades 4 and 5 of the Basic Education
level, and 48 students are selected as representative sample, 24 4th grade (6 students per course)
and 24 5th grade (6 students per course), of an age between 8 and 13 years. As information
gathering techniques, structured questionnaire questionnaires were designed with closed
questions and applied to students, 10 teachers who work in the Primary Basic cycle and 8 parents
of students of 4th and 5th grade who volunteered and freely collaborate as informants. The
analysis and interpretation of the information made it possible to diagnose the school climate and
coexistence processes, which served as a starting point for the design and formulation of a
pedagogical intervention proposal as an innovation for the use of new technologies of the
information and communication to implement activities with a transversal focus, oriented in the
classroom by the teachers of all the areas of the Study Plan. The interest of the students, their
active participation, the assimilation of thematic contents and, above all, the change of attitude to
work for the improvement of the school climate, of the convivenciales processes and, therefore,
in the improvement of the academic performance were evidenced.
