AbstractThere are many difficulties that it has found in pupils for the mathematics understanding which they begin studies to top level, especially the Differential Calculation that is very usefulness for those one that start a career of engineering; as well as also the approaches that the teachers adopt to give them chair. First of all this carried out the process of observing many classes to find the factors that affect in the process of education learning. The principal aim of the investigation is to design methodological strategies that develop mathematical competitions and carry to diminishing the academic mortality in students of Differential Calculation of the faculty of engineerings in the University Corporation of the Coast, C.U.C. The investigation that was carried out is of a qualitative character; the methodology used in the project is the same of the ethnographic investigation, because since the idea is to contribute valuable descriptive information of the contexts and activities of the participants in the educational scenes which it is unrolled and to know the pertinent information about them directly. Several instruments were interfered as: the ethnographic interview, the ethnographic observation and the survey that they are those who allowed an approximation to the students in last instances, teachers and executives, who were interacting forthwith pedagogically and where they could find different reasons of implicit form to learn and teach, concluding that the students’ mathematical competitions who start to the first semester present deficiencies, in many cases, due to the mathematical previous knowledge that they possess, in addition, they didn’t give some importance to the subject, that’s why they demonstrates that they haven’t reached the necessary mathematical maturity to develop it adequately. In addition the human behavior of students is darkened, in some cases, for not adjusting to the user-friendly procedure of the university. On the other hand some teachers presented traditional methodologies at the moment of the presentations of his classes, which didn’t facilitate a major motivation and leaving to the overdraft a small update presented by them at the moment of handling strategies, methodologies and the use of new technological tools that could be complementary inside the same ones.
