La clínica nos enseña que siempre que alguien nos pide consulta o atención terapéutica, esa demanda para el psicoanálisis es siempre una demanda de amor, asunto que para el psicoanalista Jacques Lacan se presenta cuando la demanda se opone a la necesidad, por ser la primera una cuestión de palabras que va más allá de la necesidad instintual. Esta demanda en un primer momento es interpretada por la madre, allí comienza el reconocimiento, la demanda se articula por el significado que el otro le da, ese otro es el representante del Otro de la cultura y del lenguaje, que a su vez hace retornar esa demanda en deseo, así se va constituyendo el deseo en un sujeto. Es por eso que en toda demanda siempre hay una demanda de reconocimiento, es decir, una demanda de amor. Estas demandas de amor-reconocimiento de los pacientes o consultantes hay que entenderlas en esta dimensión, no hay que calmarlas o colmarlas, respondiéndolas inmediatamente, sino propiciar una pregunta y eso es lo que se plantea desde el psicoanálisis. El arte —como lo llega a llamar Freud— es que el psicólogo pueda ser capaz de transformar esa demanda de reconocimiento en una pregunta para el mismo sujeto

Purine phosphoribosyltransferases, purine PRTs, are essential enzymes in the purine salvage pathway of living organisms. They are involved in the formation of C-N glycosidic bonds in purine nucleosides-5′-monophosphate (NMPs) through the transfer of the 5-phosphoribosyl group from 5-phospho-α-D-ribosyl-1-pyrophosphate (PRPP) to purine nucleobases in the presence of Mg2+. Herein, we report a simple and thermostable process for the one-pot, one-step synthesis of some purine NMPs using xanthine phosphoribosyltransferase, XPRT or adenine phosphoribosyltransferase, APRT2, from Thermus thermophilus HB8. In this sense, the cloning, expression and purification of TtXPRT and TtAPRT2 is described for the first time. Both genes, xprt and aprt2 were expressed as his-tagged enzymes in E. coli BL21(DE3) and purified by a heat-shock treatment, followed by Ni-affinity chromatography and a final, polishing gel-filtration chromatography. Biochemical characterization revealed TtXPRT as a tetramer and TtAPRT2 as a dimer. In addition, both enzymes displayed a strong temperature dependence (relative activity >75% in a temperature range from 70 to 90 °C), but they also showed very different behaviour under the influence of pH. While TtXPRT is active in a pH range from 5 to 7, TtAPRT2 has a high dependence of alkaline conditions, showing highest activity values in a pH range from 8 to 10. Finally, substrate specificity studies were performed in order to explore their potential as industrial biocatalyst for NMPs synthesis.

The objective of this study is to describe the processes of identification and creation of knowledge in higher education institutions (HEI). The sample is composed of 7 universities in the city of Barranquila in Colombia, and is non-probabilistic. For this purpose, a survey was used to collect data from the directors and vice-rectors of research of the research departments. For its part, the research methodology is framed in the tools of cluster analysis and principal component analysis. The established approach made it possible to demonstrate that universities have two characteristics for identifying and creating knowledge in HEIs: community learning and individual learning.

Measurements of particle size distribution was made in one location of an urban area in the period January–September/2015 in order to understand the sources and mechanisms influencing ultrafine particle (UFP) number concentrations (PNC2.5-250) using a Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer Spectrometer (SMPS). kmeans cluster analysis was applied to interpret the sources, temporal and spatial trends of UFP. Eight clusters were obtained. Main PSD patterns of each cluster, mean concentration of other air pollutants tracing specific sources and processes, and that of meteorological variables, as well as the hourly and seasonal frequencies of occurrence were used to support the interpretation of their origin. Thus, clusters were attributed to traffic rush hours, midday summer new particle formation, diurnal new particle formation and growth, growth of nucleated and other urban particles, urban background, regional and urban background and regional and urban background on cold nights. Many PSDs of the clusters were dominated by nucleation mode particles: midday nucleated fresh particles, photochemically induced (NPF); diurnal nucleation episodes (NPF2); growth of nucleated particles in nocturnal aging (GNPF). Origins of the clusters were related to local/regional sources (mostly traffic and biomass burning), atmospheric processes (photochemical formation and growth) and urban/regional background. Results clearly shows that traffic is a major UFP source in nucleation mode and occurred in higher concentrations in winter (08:00 to 12:00 h) during traffic rush hours, and at night. Photochemical nucleation occurred with a relatively low frequency but yielding very high PNC.

This study makes a systemic review to cluster and create a competitiveness relationship considering a systems dynamics approach. A dynamic hypothesis was constructed to validate what factors increase a cluster’s level of competitiveness, through causal analysis. Then, the causal diagram that validates the dynamic H0 hypothesis was constructed in Vensim PLE systems®. Literature review shows the evolution of the cluster system according to the current needs of the market, and emphasizes the need for new approaches and models that capture the complexity and dynamics of this system, allowing the understanding of its structure and the evaluation of the contribution of factors and capabilities to cluster competitiveness. It highlights the usefulness of systems dynamics as a simulation methodology for dynamic and complex systems, and establishes itself as a growing line of research applied to various systems of study. Dynamic hypothesis H0 was validated using the causal diagram, reaching the conclusion that innovation, productive management, financial management, organizational management, commercial management, and cluster management factors positively increase the cluster competitiveness level. From structure analysis, the behavior is associated to the archetype “Path Dependence,” usual in growing industrial markets

This article aims to determine what are the strong and weak interactions of geographic museum networks in Colombia, with other national and foreign actors. We applied a survey to nine territorial networks that are made up of 222 museums. We obtained the relationship data with 32 types of actors in Colombia and abroad. To represent the relationship, we use the weighted graphs. In the case of the geographic networks analyzed, the strongest relationships are with international experts, the Program for the Strengthening of Museums, the media, schools, city halls of the municipalities where the museums are located, judicial entities, and other networks of museums.

Due to the processes of internationalization, competitiveness and other related elements, universities have implemented policies and management systems that allow them to monitor and measure their world ranking position of presence on the web. The purpose of this paper is to perform a conglomerate analysis of the Top100 of the Latin American universities positioned in Webometrics database in January 2017. For this reason, information on postgraduate programs and social networks included in the websites of these institutions, and on the professors and documents found in Google Scholar was obtained. The correlation between the variables is observed, and the clusters are identified. The variable with the highest correlation with the ranking is the number of postgraduate programs. Three conglomerates are formed, with 11 being the least number of postgraduate programs guaranteeing universities to be among the Top50 positions.

The estimation of the available bandwidth (AB) in an end-to-end manner can be used in several network applications to improve their performance. Several tools send pairs of packets from one end to the other and measure the packets' dispersion to infer the value of the AB. Given the fractal nature of Internet traffic, these measurements have significant errors that affect the accuracy of the estimation. This article presents the application of a clustering technique to reduce the estimation error of the available bandwidth in and end-to-end path. The clustering technique used is K-means which is applied to a tool called Traceband that is originally based on a Hidden Markov Model to perform the estimation. It is shown that using K-means in Traceband can improve its accuracy in 67.45% when the cross traffic is about 70% of the end-to-end capacity.

The positioning of Latin American universities in the rankings reflects the ability to research, generate results, and publish scientific output to be cited, as well as evidence of academic excellence, capacity for innovation and social linkage. The present study presents the results of a descriptive analysis based on clusters of eighty-five Latin American universities located in the first fifty positions of ARWU, SIR Scimago, QS and Webometrics rankings, according to their most recent editions published during the year 2019, highlighting the universities located in Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia, countries that host 90% of the best positioned universities in Latin America.

El objetivo es reconocer las significaciones socioculturales y estéticas de los grafismos develados en las camisetas de los jóvenes de la ciudad de Pereira (Risaralda, Colombia), derivadas de las influencias gráficas a las que ellos se encuentran expuestos. Para realizar dicho proceso se emplea el enfoque cualitativo, a través de un abordaje etnográfico para la consolidación de perfiles que reflejan las significaciones del colectivo representado. Los resultados obtenidos indicaron cuatro tipologías: 1) el uso comunicativo por marcas comerciales como prioridad, 2) la preferencia desde pregnancia a la composición de la forma, 3) el uso fundamentado en expresiones musicales, y 4) el uso desde las representaciones políticas. En conclusión, las significaciones de los grafismos de las camisetas se encuentran relacionadas a intereses comunicativos propios del contexto en el que se desenvuelven, sin embargo, los usos de estas prendas no solo están influenciadas por factores externos de consumo, sino también por la necesidad de exponer una realidad social, política o cultural. Los ejercicios de investigación-creación cobran relevancia metodológica, tanto de la obra visual como en el proceso creativo para contribuir a la experiencia transformadora y comunicativa

Attempts to secure more energy, food, and infrastructure leave a trail of environmental contamination and human health hazards. Coal is a fossil fuel and nonrenewable energy source that is combusted and used to generate electricity. A coal-fired power plant is a prodigious generator of environmental pollution, releasing large quantities of particles as aerosols in the atmosphere. The inhalation of hazardous substances such as coal micro-particles, nanoparticles, and its by-products constitutes an invisible risk to human health. Although coal is predominantly composed of carbon, there are many other constituents including sulfur, nitrogen, organometallic compounds, and minerals, that contribute to the formation of extremely toxic secondary compounds that come in contact with the atmosphere. The continuous inhalation of these hazardous substances triggers many diseases such respiratory and cardiovascular disease, systemic inflammation, and neurodegeneration. Due to coal heterogeneity, it is extremely complex to establish all the effects of the molecules in the organism. Each cell can undergo different modifications depending on the stressing molecule. On that account, inhaling air contaminated with these particles can be highly dangerous and unpredictable. This review covers the impact of coal inhalation on the lungs, immune system, heart, reproductive system, brain, DNA, and, in general, the human health. For this review, Medline and Scopus databases were accessed, including human epidemiological, review studies, and coal characterization studies over the years. Coal as an energy source must be utilized with appropriate measures of environmental protection and to safeguard human health.

There are multiple elements which enable coal geochemistry: (1) boiler and pollution control system design parameters, (2) temperature of flue gas at collection point, (3) feed coal and also other fuels like petroleum coke, tires and biomass geochemistry and (4) fuel feed particle size distribution homogeneity distribution, maintenance of pulverisers, etc. Even though there is a large number of hazardous element pollutants in the coal-processing industry, investigations on micrometer and nanometer-sized particles including their aqueous colloids formation reactions and their behaviour entering the environment are relatively few in numbers. X-ray diffraction (XRD), High Resolution-Transmission Electron microscopy (HR-TEM)/ (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) EDS/ (selected-area diffraction pattern) SAED, Field Emission-Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM)/EDS and granulometric distribution analysis were used as an integrated characterization techniques tool box to determine both geochemistry and nanomineralogy for coal fly ashes (CFAs) from Brazil´s largest coal power plant. Ultrafine/nano-particles size distribution from coal combustion emissions was estimated during the tests. In addition the iron and silicon content was determined as 54.6% of the total 390 different particles observed by electron bean, results aimed that these two particles represent major minerals in the environment particles normally. These data may help in future investigations to asses human health actions related with nano-particles.

The health and prosperity of humanity is directly tied with the state of our environment” (UN News, 2019). The sheer magnitude and complexity of these issues, particularly within the broader narrative of a ballooning world population and unsustainable consumption patterns, requires a coordinated, transdisciplinary, and international effort to increase public awareness, and develop and implement an effective response. Scientists, governments, global leaders, policy makers, intergovernmental organizations, stakeholders, and even concerned citizens have coalesced around an urgent need to address the profound, and enduring impacts, that human activities pose to the environment as the projected consequences of inaction threatens the health – and very existence – of the human population. Central to these discussions is developing policy/energy usage strategies within the context of climate change, where a growing (and some would argue “overwhelming”) body of evidence links global environmental change and ecosystem responses with the extraction and utilization of fossil fuels, particularly coal. Coal, the “largest source of solid fuel in the world” (Miller, 2011), has been universally (and indiscriminately) embraced by civilizations across the entire globe for thousands of years, playing a pivotal role in the creation and advancement of the industrial revolution(s), and the development of modern technologies. Unfortunately, this success comes at a price, as the consequences of long-term usage on air, water, soil, ecosystems, animal and human health are significant. The removal of coal from the global energy mix has been internationally prioritized as governments seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and restrict the development of coal mines, power plants, and associated infrastructure (Brown and Speigel, 2019). In this special issue of Energy Geoscience, “Coal Energy and Environmental Impacts”, we explore the profound impact and influence (positive and negative) that this important energy resource has at the water-energy-food-health nexus and offer insight into the various facets of coal science, the environmental and human health impacts of coal, and the development of energy resources. The introductory article by Hower and Groppo (2021) uses electron microscopy to investigate the modes of occurrence, and distribution, of rare earth element (REE) minerals in fly ash. Given the critical importance of REE within industrial applications, the recovery of REE from coal combustion by-products may offer a promising solution within a global context of supply and demand.

La crisis de legitimidad de los partidos políticos ha sido uno de los temas más estudiados e investigados en el ámbito de la ciencia política y jurídica. A lo largo de la historia, politólogos y analistas de distintas latitudes han realizado sus disquisiciones en torno a este fenómeno, guiados principalmente por la situación de debilitamiento que en algunos países enfrentan los sistemas democráticos; dichos análisis surgen siempre en momentos en los que el descreimiento popular y la poca aceptación a sus propuestas se hacen cada vez más evidentes. La actuación histórica de los partidos políticos en Colombia no está lejos de esa realidad, que hace de las colectividades órganos cada vez más distanciados del apoyo popular; por ende, el presente artículo pretende demostrar cómo se ha utilizado, endémicamente, la estrategia coalicionaria para solventar problemas surgidos de las propias entrañas partidistas.

Coastal boundaries delimit a geographical space and are defined by the distances of one or more areas on the coast, the sea or on its interface, on the order of a few hundred meters to many kilometers, average. Coastal boundaries can also extend and go inland by land, from the interior of the watersheds to the limit of a national jurisdiction into the sea. Most criteria for establishing coastal boundaries depend on several factors such as the set of specific problems, the uses of the territory, or the physical and geographical aspects that are relevant to each stretch of coast. Coastal flood hazard mapping (CoFHaM) is a tool used to determine flood zone limits inland and in other areas exposed to coastal floods due to different hazards such as storm, surge waves, sea level rise caused by climate change, inland storm surge, heavy rainfall, among others. Its areas are identified through maps made by one or more researchers using the Geographic Information System (GIS) software. Generally, its maps display particular levels of flood hazards and risks, with different parameters defined as low, medium, and high.
