Methylmercury (MeHg) is an organic bioaccumulated mercury derivative that strongly affects the environment and represents a public health problem primarily to riparian communities in South America. Our objective was to investigate the hepatic and neurological effects of MeHg exposure during the phases foetal and breast-feeding and adult in Wistar rats. Wistar rats (n = 10) were divided into 3 groups. Control group received mineral oil; The simple exposure (SE) group was exposed only in adulthood (0.5 mg/kg/day); and double exposure (DE) was pre-exposed to MeHg 0.5 mg/kg/day during pregnancy and breastfeeding (±40 days) and re-exposed to MeHg for 45 days from day 100. After, we evaluated possible abnormalities. Behavioral and biochemical parameters in liver and occipital cortex (CO), markers of liver injury, redox and AKT/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway. Our results showed that both groups treated with MeHg presented significant alterations, such as decreased locomotion and exploration and impaired visuospatial perception. The rats exposed to MeHg showed severe liver damage and increased hepatic glycogen concentration. The MeHg groups showed significant impairment in redox balance and oxidative damage to liver macromolecules and CO. MeHg upregulated the AKT/GSK3β/mTOR pathway and the phosphorylated form of the Tau protein. In addition, we found a reduction in NeuN and GFAP immunocontent. These results represent the first approach to the hepatotoxic and neural effects of foetal and adult MeHg exposure.

Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is highly endemic in the Colombian Amazon basin. In Colombia, the universal hepatitis B vaccination in that area has been active since 1993. The program targets children aged under five years. Newborns receive at least three doses, and in 2001, HBV vaccine birth dose was included. This study aimed to evaluate the advances on HBV control in the Colombian Amazon. Methods: A population-based cross-sectional study was conducted in children less than 11 years old in rural areas of the Colombian Amazon, in order to assess the current levels of HBV prevalence and evaluate the effectiveness of HBV vaccination. Participants were selected from villages scattered along the Amazon, Putumayo and Loretoyaco Rivers. Blood samples were taken from children. All the samples were examined for surface antigen (HBsAg) and IgG antibodies against core antigen (AntiHBc) of HBV. Data on HBV vaccination status and other risk factors were also collected. Results: Blood samples from 1275 children were included in the study. The positivity for IgG AntiHBC and HBsAg was 3.8% and 0.5%, respectively. It was observed that receiving a dose of HBV vaccine within 48 h after birth decreased the risk of HBV infection and carriage by 95%. Being born to an AntiHBc positive mother increased 8 times the risk of HBV infection (OR = 7.8 CI 95% 3.3–10.2) and 7 times the risk of HBsAg carriage (OR = 6.6 CI 95% 2.1–10.1). Conclusion: The prevalence of HBV infection and HBsAg carriage continues to decrease among children living in the Colombian Amazon. The high protective effectiveness of an HBV birth does suggest that perinatal transmission is important in endemic areas of Latin America, an aspect that has not been fully studied in the region.

The paper analyzes some themes present in the conception of J. Habermas about democracy and State of Law. The author stands out mediated by his hermeneutics as a method the moral and political philosophy with which he reconstructs the State of Law in terms of Discourse Theory. Also, he interprets the conformation of the political community through dialogical rationality, which is why parts of the moments of his political theory are highlighted here to conceive law in a discursive perspective, mediated by dialogical principles to define procedural democracy. This justifies the communicative idea of the State of Law, a question that finds counterexamples in those democratic systems only formal.

La asignatura de hermenéutica jurídica es una asignatura fundamental en el proceso de formación integral del abogado de la Universidad de la Costa, dado que facilita la concepción de un profesional crítico, ético y humanista, con actitud clara en su razonamiento lógico, en la interpretación, comprensión y argumentación jurídica de cara a la problemática social, económica y política que debe enfrentar en un nuevo derecho dúctil y constitucionalizado. Todo ello evidentemente se logra a través de la lógica jurídica y la argumentación jurídica. De la primera se deriva la capacidad de razonamiento correcto que debe tener el estudiante y el futuro profesional del derecho para efectuar adecuadamente inferencias y construir con idoneidad juicios y proposiciones normativas y fácticas; y de la segunda, en consecuencia, permite el eficaz desenvolvimiento de competencias propositivas en las demás asignaturas que se desarrollan, pues tanto la lógica, como la argumentación, son competencias trasversales e inherente a la formación académica que demanda cada día más, un profesionales dispuestos asumir nuevos retos como la oralidad sustancial y procesal.

Para lo cual se tomara como referencia las normas técnicas sectoriales colombianas, tomando como objeto de estudio restaurantes de diferentes categorías. Este trabajo permite evaluar por medio de la herramienta los restaurantes de cualquier categoría mostrando por medio de las normas de cumplimiento que requisitos tiene y cuales le hacen falta para su mayor calidad en los procesos. Dentro de los archivos del Software se da un Manual de Instrucciones el cual explica detalladamente como es el funcionamiento de este, además presenta una opción de ayuda de palabras y definiciones claves. Este mostrara los resultados por medios gráficos, el cual permitirá ver en qué porcentaje se encuentra el Restaurante evaluado, su categoría y las normas de cumplimiento.

Este trabajo revisa el uso de cinco tipos de herramientas utilizadas para el análisis bioclimático del proyecto arquitectónico a través de prácticas pedagógicas orientadas desde la investigación. Las herramientas analizadas fueron: dispositivos de simulación, aparatos de medición especializados y encuestas de percepción térmica, índices de confort, diagramas o cartas y software de simulación bioclimática. La muestra se extrajo de dos cursos universitarios de segundo año con énfasis en arquitectura bioclimática. Los resultados evidenciaron que las herramientas gráficas y de cálculo fueron las más aceptadas por los estudiantes. La utilización del software supuso algunas dificultades, mientras que la interpretación y la comunicación de los resultados en el proyecto evidenció mayores obstáculos por superar. En síntesis, el uso de estas herramientas es fundamental en la enseñanza de la arquitectura y se espera que este ejercicio permita guiar la construcción de metodologías para su aprendizaje

The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of author’s tools in the teaching learning process of Mechanical Physics according to learning styles in Middle School students this research has been carried out under a mix sequential approach descriptive exploratory with an intentionally selected non probabilistic sample of 77 students distributed in two control and experimental groups , furthermore information has been selected through instruments such as learning style questionnaire the pretest posttest and observation sheet. The Aim to incorporate ICT skills into the classroom is to boost teaching and learning outcome looking forward having better both teaching experiences and learning goals acquisition particularly in those topics regarding to Mechanical Physics in the topic Free Body Diagrams and application to Dynamics in the Polytechnic Institution of Soledad located in Barranquilla Colombia. Tenth grade students are facing tough times 35% in learning Physics which was evidenced in the periodic periodic monitoring reports made to students’ performance. The results show that many of the difficulties students presented were overcome and 42% of the students were motivated with the incorporation of authors tools and drastically improved their academic performance in the mentioned subject.

For this, a diagnostic test was applied that allowed to identify the state of the pedagogical practice of the teachers of the Departmental Educational Institution Natania in the area of English. Subsequently, a training process was developed with the inclusion of the author tool CUADERNIA in the areas of English, during an academic period. Finally, pedagogical strategies were formulated with the use of the tool applied to the English students of the institution. The study showed that students and teachers were motivated with the use of technology, considering it an effective tool to reinforce knowledge in the areas of English. It was concluded that the application of the author tool as a didactic mediation strategy contributes to the strengthening of the pedagogical practice of the teachers and, at the same time, to the learning of the students

Nowadays society demands the use of technology, accompanied of English knowledge. For this reason, to educational level, it is relevant and necessary that the schools notice the big benefits that the interaction of these two elements can bring about. The objective of this study consists of showing the contribution of synchronous tools in order to develop oral English skills in eleventh grade students. Theoretical basis were considered to be the authors' contributions in three categories of analysis as follows: Communicative ability, Theories of motivation and a second Language learning, and Information and communication technologies. The methodology was Investigation – Action, since in this social research the pupils participate as beneficiaries of the project and the teachers as agents of change in the search of solutions to the difficulties presented in English classes, under a mixed approach quasi-experimental descriptive type with a sample of 67 students divided in two groups, an experimental group consisting of 36 students and a control group made up of 31 students. The findings showed that in the experimental group there was a notable decrease in the low level in all the categories of analysis and therefore a significant increase in the high levels; unlike the control group, which showed a minimum decrease of the low level in most of the categories analyzed.. It was concluded that the use of synchronous tools such as videostreaming and videoconference in classroom, in conjunction with a constructivist teaching learning – model, in which students were creators of their own knowledge, increased the interest of them in the accomplishment of the activities proposed in the subject, so, it made them feel much more confident at the moment of having conversations and oral presentations and it was possible to demonstrate a better oral performance related to fluency, cohesion and coherence.

La eficiencia energética (E.E) adquirió importancia investigativa a partir de la década de los 70, considerándose importante para la reducción de emisiones de CO2, y para mejorar el rendimiento y la sostenibilidad. (Neri, Cagno, Di Sebastiano, & Trianni, 2018), establecen que para mejorar el rendimiento de la sostenibilidad, las empresas deben adoptar medidas de sostenibilidad industrial, sin embargo, la tasa de adopción de estas iniciativas es baja. En Colombia el uso racional y eficiente de la energía fue declarado como un asunto de interés social, público y de convivencia nacional por la Ley 697 de 2001, en los 17 años que han transcurrido, las autoridades colombianas han desarrollado diferentes esfuerzos para la producción y desarrollo en el país de la eficiencia energética, entre esas las más importantes: - Ley 788 de 2002 Incentivos tributarios por uso eficiente de la energía - Decreto 3683 de 2003- Uso de energías alternativas - Creación del PROURE – Programa de uso racional y eficiente de la energía y demás formas de energía no convencional. - 2008- Reglamento de instalaciones eléctricas RETIE - 2008 Reglamento técnico de iluminación y alumbrado público RETILAP - Ley 1715 de 2014 Por medio de la cual se regula la integración de las energías renovables no convencionales al sistema energético nacional. - 2017 Actualización del PROURE Sin embargo, pese a los esfuerzos que el gobierno de Colombia ha realizado en materia de regulación y promoción de la eficiencia energética, basado en la literatura revisada hasta el momento, lo cual incluye el PROURE, la política de energía nacional, plan de gobierno presidencial, estudios de la UPME, tesis de posgrados y artículo científicos, se evidencia que no se han obtenido resultados de investigación rigurosos que identifiquen las barreras que dificultan la implementación de gestión eficiente de la energía a nivel local y nacional, razón por la cual este trabajo es de mucha pertinencia. Tomando en consideración que en el año 2015 la relación entre de energía útil y las pérdidas en la matriz energética nacional fue de 48% y 52% respectivamente, y que el costo de energía desperdiciada fue de casi 4.700 millones de dólares al año, es preciso indicar que en Colombia existe un potencial significativo para mejorar la eficiencia energética (Ministerio de Minas y Energía de Colombia & Unidad de Planeación Minero Energética - UPME, 2017). Para el caso particular de la industria de manufactura de productos metálicos, según (PROCOLOMBIA, 2016), existe un potencial de consumo de acero de 7 millones de toneladas en el 2020, además de un aumento de 49% en consumo de productos laminados en los últimos 4 años, sin embargo, en el 2014 el precio de la energía eléctrica para la industria fue de 10 USD Cent/KWh, (Tarifa industrial para consumos mensuales mayores a 500.000 kWh) ubicándose por encima de países como Ecuador, Brasil, Perú y Estados Unidos, lo cual indica que existe una necesidad inminente de invertir en eficiencia energética para promover la competitividad en la industria de manufactura metalmecánica, de tal forma que pueda ser mas competitiva frente a los pronósticos de consumo antes mencionados.

El trabajo se desarrolla bajo la metodología de razonamiento lógico deductivoal contrastar la teoría con la observación de la situación objeto de estudio,dentro de los paradigmas constructivista y crítico a través de la interpretación, análisis, reflexión y acción concreta de diseño de las tres estrategias didácticas que propone. Este trabajo corresponde a unenfoque mixto caracterizadopor un componente cuantitativo dominante debido a la naturaleza de los instrumentos de recolección deinformación empleados. Parael procesamiento de datos se emplearon, por una parte,la estadística descriptiva para los instrumentos cuantitativos y por la otra, la categorización y análisis temáticopara el instrumento cualitativo.Los resultados evidenciaron un bajo nivel de lectura, una tendencia hacia los estilos de aprendizaje Reflexivo y Pragmático, así como la competencia mediática predominanteen el grupo de estudiantes examinados. Concluye reconociendo la necesidad de fortalecerelnivel de lectura crítico-intertextual en los estudiantes, aplicarprueba estandarizadapara develar el estilo de aprendizaje de los estudiantes, y dar relevancia al empleo de TIC como herramientas de apoyo que mejoren la planeación de estrategias y el desarrollo de contenidos. Se espera que esta propuesta permita fortalecer lalectura crítica y sirva de referente para quienes enfrentan procesos similares.

The present research project introduces the Information and Communication Technologies (Tic) in education, and more specifically the incorporation of interactive WEB tools during the teaching and learning process, brings multiple benefits to students and teachers, among them the dynamization of innovative strategies and the development of competences towards a higher education. The purpose of the research work is to analyze the contribution of interactive Web tools to the learning process in academic secondary education of the Industrial Technical Educational Institution of the Island of San Andrés. With a population of 783 and a sample constituted of 102 students of the academic average (43 of the 10th grade and 59 of the 11th grade). The research was based on a Qualitative - Quantitative research approach (mixed - emerging paradigm, based on the theory of constructivism, connectivism, meaningful learning and mediated learning, the latter emphasizes the convergence between the humanities and computer science during a learning process. it is an innovative didactic strategy that strengthens specific competences and practical skills. The students positively value the use of technology in the learning process, however, they pointed out some flaws in its application due to the teaching methodologies applied or the availability of technological resources.

This research presents a heuristic system to solve the problem of materials and operations planning in supply chains with alternative product structures. The objective is minimizing the costs associated to stock levels, setup and operations, considering products with alternative bill of materials. The heuristic system can be used as a framework to embed one-level rules into a multi-level problem with alternative bill of materials. With this in mind, this framework can be used to apply planning rules as simple as Wager-Whitin, Silver-Meal, FOQ and L×L, among others.

This paper gives a heuristic equipment execution to registering square root activity for positive genuine numbers through Taylor arrangement and Newton's technique. Comparable methodology can be utilized for planning other root activities, for example, 3D shape roots, fifth roots, etc. Two unique structures are examined, one, combinational, straight forward, got from Taylor arrangement development and one consecutive, got from Newton's enhancement condition. The results are better, lower region, and lower power utilization for the subsequent engineering contrasted with the first.

Hierarchical ascending classification: An application to contraband apprehensions in Colombia (2015–2016)

An empirical study of ex post facto type was carried out using, as a primary source, the database of the Direction of Management of Control of the Subdirector of Management of Customs Control in the Dirección de Impuestos y Aduanas Nacionales (DIAN) of Colombia and applying the hierarchical ascending classification of contraband apprehensions in Colombia (2015–2016), in order to review the effectiveness of the law 1762 2015. The large amount of data was worked using data mining techniques such as: conglomerates and clustering. Through this method, it was possible to identify six conglomerates that explain 97.14% of the data variability. Similar behaviors were identified in some areas such as the border with Venezuela, the southern border of Colombia, but not in coastal areas. Because it is common that the quantities apprehended does not have a direct relationship with the value of the same, it is necessary to identify if this situation is due to a change in the typology of contraband products, the effect of the exchange rate, or deficiencies in the valuation techniques.

A hierarchical p-hub center problem for perishable products using CPLEX method and origin-destination approach

The problem studied in this paper is the p hub center and the network structure is hierarchical and in three levels; where level one is for demand nodes, level two is for hub nodes, and level three is for central hubs. Central hubs have a complete network and hubs in the network have the capacity constraint. Given that the issue under consideration is for the purpose of transporting perishable goods, Such problems are often used in transportation systems in which customer response time is of great importance and sensitivity; Therefore, the objectives of the proposed model are to find the best location for hubs in the network as well as the best allocation of nodes to hubs so that network transportation costs are reduced and the maximum travel time between each pair of origin destination nodes is minimized. To evaluate the model, a numerical example with CAB dataset is introduced and to review and analyze the results, GAMS software with CPLEX solver is used. The results show that the discount coefficient of central hubs compared to the discount coefficient of second level hubs has the greatest impact on the cost of transportation and travel time.

Obesity is a health problem that has been associated with neuroinflammation, decreased cognitive functions and development of neurodegenerative diseases. Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic neurodegenerative condition characterized by motor and non-motor abnormalities, increased brain inflammation, α-synuclein protein aggregation and dopaminergic neuron loss that is associated with decreased levels of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) in the brain. Diet-induced obesity is a global epidemic and its role as a risk factor for PD is not clear. Herein, we showed that 25 weeks on a high-fat diet (HFD) promotes significant alterations in the nigrostriatal axis of Wistar rats. Obesity induced by HFD exposure caused a reduction in TH levels and increased TH phosphorylation at serine 40 in the ventral tegmental area. These effects were associated with insulin resistance, increased tumor necrosis factor-α levels, oxidative stress, astrogliosis and microglia activation. No difference was detected in the levels of α-synuclein. Obesity also induced impairment of locomotor activity, total mobility and anxiety-related behaviors that were identified in the open-field and light/dark tasks. There were no changes in motor coordination or memory. Together, these data suggest that the reduction of TH levels in the nigrostriatal axis occurs through an α-synuclein-independent pathway and can be attributed to brain inflammation, oxidative/nitrosative stress and metabolic disorders induced by obesity
