This article is intended to establish the variables that explain the behavior of the CiteScore metrics from 2014 to 2016, for journals indexed in Scopus in 2017. With this purpose, journals with a CiteScore value greater than 11 were selected in any of the periods, that is to say, 133 journals. For the data analysis, a model of standard corrected errors for panel was used, from which a coefficient of determination of 77% was obtained. From the results, it was possible to state that journals of arts and humanities; business; administration and accounting; economics, econometrics, and finance; immunology and microbiology; medicine and social sciences, have the greatest impact.

This article aims to determine what are the strong and weak interactions of geographic museum networks in Colombia, with other national and foreign actors. We applied a survey to nine territorial networks that are made up of 222 museums. We obtained the relationship data with 32 types of actors in Colombia and abroad. To represent the relationship, we use the weighted graphs. In the case of the geographic networks analyzed, the strongest relationships are with international experts, the Program for the Strengthening of Museums, the media, schools, city halls of the municipalities where the museums are located, judicial entities, and other networks of museums.

This paper has the purpose of establishing the variables that explain the behavior of ResearchGate for the Top100 Latin American universities positioned in Webometrics database for January 2017. For this purpose, a search was carried out to get information about postgraduate courses and professors at the institutional websites and social networks, obtaining documents registered in Google Scholar. For the data analysis, the econometric technique of ordinary least squares was applied, a cross-sectional study for the year 2017 was conducted, and the individuals studied were the first 100 Latin American universities, obtaining a coefficient of determination of 73.82%. The results show that the most significant variables are the number of programs, the number of teacher’s profiles registered in Google Scholar, the number of subscribers to the institutional YouTube channel, and the GDP per capita of the university origin country. Variables such as (i) number of undergraduate programs, (ii) number of scientific journals; (iii) number of documents found under the university domain; (iv) H-index of the 1st profile of researcher at the university; (vi) number of members of the institution; (v) SIR Scimago ranking of Higher Education Institutions; (vi) number of tweets published in the institutional account; (vii) number of followers in the Twitter institutional account; (vii) number of “likes” given to the institutional count, were not significant

The purpose of this paper is to establish the variables that explain the behavior of trademark applications in Colombia between 2012 and 2016. For the analysis, a fixed effects model with robust panel errors was used, for which a determination coefficient of 99% was obtained. From these, it was possible to establish that the number of patent applications, the number of industrial design applications, the number of establishments, professional technical and technological salaries of permanent production or indefinite term contracts, departmental GDP, national investment in administration and other support activities, sales of companies in the country and advertising expenditures are significant to explain the number of trademark applications.

The purpose of this research is to determine the incidence of income on the satisfaction of quality of life in Latin American capitals. The data was taken from the CAF Survey in 2017 (ECAF), made by Development Bank of Latin America. To do this, an econometric model was constructed which represents the relationship between the studied variables. Among the main findings, it was identified that, except for Mexico City, in all the analyzed cities a deteriorated state of health reduces the probability that the individual feels satisfied with his or her life. Therefore, health is a crucial element to increase the citizens’ perception of the quality of life in Latin American cities.

This paper analyzes the relationship between intellectual property and the different types of proximity in networks of geographic museums in Colombia. For this, we applied a survey to nine territorial networks that are made up of 237 museums. The analyze include the use of different kind of visualization of correlations between variables and agents (in this case, museum networks), the iconography of correlations and the weighted graphs. Among the main findings are that (i) IP protection is independent of the types of proximity that museums and museum networks face; (ii) museum networks do not have the culture of registration of new creations or distinctive signs.

Our research aims to establish how to predict the H index of Colombian authors with publications in Scopus until 2016. The selection of the date was because, as mentioned earlier, the number of documents indexed per year exceeded 10,000 and they obtained the highest number of documents cited. To accomplish this purpose, a quantitative, nonexperimental, cross-sectional, descriptive, explanatory, and predictive research was designed using supervised learning algorithms. These were applied to information from 8,840 Colombian authors. Among the findings we can highlight that: (i) Colombia is in the fifth position in the scope of countries of South America and the Caribbean, in terms of the number of products and citations; (ii) the largest number of Colombian authors with products in Scopus until 2016, belonged mainly to the area of natural sciences, followed by medical sciences and health; (iii) most of the Colombian authors were men (64.2%, or 5,442) and they have higher H index rates than women; (iv) using random cross validation for 10 iterations, the methods with the best predictive value using R2 and the minimization of mean absolute error (MAE) correspond to: AdaBoost (96.6% and 0.397, respectively); Random Forest (96.8% and 0.431, respectively); KNN (94.4% and 0.525, respectively); Tree (94.9% and 0.53, respectively); and Neural Network (93.3% and 0.7, respectively); and (v) the variables that help predict the H index in the case of the Colombian authors, in addition to the citations, correspond to: the quantity of products, number of products in Q1, and international collaboration

Despite its importance, because of the lack of tools and quantitative methods for decision-making by governmental agents and other organizations, in the underdeveloped and developing countries, human occupation is absent as a factor of social regulation. In this paper, we present a “toy model” that illustrates the use of agent-based modeling methods to simulate a simple occupational dynamic.

The purpose of this document is to answer: what is the panorama of prison overcrowding in Colombia between 1991 and 2016? This document facilitates the understanding of the prison crisis that crosses the country and emphasizes in a phenomenon rarely seen. It was evidenced that since 1991 there is an increasing attendance of the PPL in the case of women with a growth of 444% compared to 2016 and in the men of 305%. There is overpopulation with a continuous upward trend since 1991, housing in recent years more than double the population that could be given the installed capacity.

This paper aims to establish the participation behavior of residents in the city of Bogotá between 25 and 44 years of age, to ﬁnance or seek funding for entrepreneurial projects through crowdfunding? In order to meet the proposed objective, the focus of this research is quantitative, non-experimental and transactional (2017). Through data collection and data analysis, we seek patterns of behavior of the target population. Two machine learning techniques will be used for the analysis: supervised learning (using the learning algorithm of the decision tree) and unsupervised learning (clustering). Among the main ﬁndings are that (i) most of the people who would participate as an entrepreneur and donor and entrepreneur simultaneously belong to stratum 3; (ii) Crowdfunding projects based on donations do not have a high interest on the part of Bogotans, but those in which they aspire to recover the investment.

The purpose of this paper is to establish ways to predict the spatial distribution of the use of the intellectual property system from information on industrial property applications and grants (distinctive signs and new creations) and copyright registrations in 2018. This will be done using supervised learning algorithms applied to information on industrial property applications and grants (trademarks and new creations) and copyright registrations in 2018. Within the findings, 4 algorithms were identified with a level of explanation higher than 80%: (i) Linear Regression, with an elastic network regularization; (ii) Stochastic Gradient Descent, with Hinge loss function, Ringe regularization (L2) and a constant learning rate; (iii) Neural Networks, with 1,000 layers, with Adam’s solution algorithm and 2,000 iterations; (iv) Random Forest, with 10 trees
