This article quantifies the development of photovoltaic solar energy in Colombia and its current development prospects. The high demand for electricity in Colombia is increasing since there is a large population, industrial, and business increase, which brings a higher energy consumption and consequently economic, social, and environmental problems. Faced with this situation, a possible solution is proposed, using solar energy, to supply the increase in demand and mitigate the problems caused by current electricity generation because Colombia has high levels of solar radiation in almost the entire territory. The objective of this research is based on the analysis of the behavior of the projects on photovoltaic solar systems presented to the mining-energy planning unit (UPME) in the last 14 years until September 30, 2020, as well such as the study of the areas with the most effective implementation of this technology and their respective radiation indices. In addition, a synthesis is made of the regulations, laws, and tax incentives that exist for the implementation of this technology and the different stages of execution of the projects approved and in performance.

The energy needs to facilitate daily tasks, in combination with the difficulty of carrying out solutions to certain regions of the country through the National Interconnected System (SIN) makes it necessary to search for viable economic and self-sustaining supply alternatives that compensate for this shortcoming. at the national level, Non-interconnected areas (ZNI) comprise 52% of the Colombian national territory (SSPD, 2019), in addition to this a fossil fuel crisis is looming, so it is vitally important to provide energy solutions in the short and medium term over the long term. and width of the country. In Colombia since 2010, small-scale photovoltaic solutions have been implemented, but the 2015-2029 expansion plan of the UPME (UPME, 2016) contemplates the inclusion of alternative energies in the SIN, as well as incentive programs for generation of non-conventional energies such as solar, wind, biomass, among others. The incentives include tax exemptions for the basic elements of the photovoltaic system such as panels and inverters, as well as credits and programs for the acquisition of solar photovoltaic energy. In this work, the dimensioning of a photovoltaic solar system is carried out as an energy solution for multi-family homes in a non-interconnected area of Colombia, specifically in the department of Vaupés. To achieve the proposed objective, a general characterization of the area under study is carried out. In addition, the procedure to determine the type and characteristics of the components of the proposed system is detailed, reaching the number of 6 solar collectors, connected to a 3000 W hybrid inverter and a 48V 150 Ah energy storage system; in the same way, the calculations of the approximate costs of construction of the project and return on the investment of the project are made, which is estimated in approximately 1.5 years producing 3385,476 KWh per year approx; The PVGIS simulation software is used to verify the proper functioning of the designed system, and finally, with the Digsilent Power Factory software, the load flow analysis of the installation is carried out to guarantee its correct operation.

En el presente documento se presentan los resultados del proceso de planificación y diseño del sistema de iluminación y el sistema solar FV del estadio municipal de softbol del municipio de Fundación, Magdalena. El cual debido a su prolongado tiempo de funcionamiento y a la ausencia de actualizaciones en más de 30 años no cumple ninguno de los estándares de diseño exigidos por el RETIE, RETILAP y NTC 2050 primera actualización, por lo cual no garantiza las condiciones necesarias de un escenario de juego. Teniendo en cuenta el estado del escenario, se diseña un sistema de iluminación del área de juego de nivel profesional para el área de infield y outfield, se diseña el sistema de iluminación de las graderías y accesos al estadio, contemplado un sistema de iluminación controlado en el cual se puedan configurar franjas de colores de acuerdo con el tipo de evento proyectado. Además del sistema de iluminación de los camerinos, áreas húmedas e iluminación de emergencia y teniendo en cuenta que los sistemas de iluminación son las cargas más representativas del complejo deportivo y su horario de utilización transcurre durante la noche, se proyecta un sistema solar FV con almacenamiento de energía, con una autonomía de un día a plena carga, a través de baterías de ion de litio de larga vida útil. Gracias a esto se desplaza la curva de generación solar al horario nocturno para reducir el consumo facturado al mismo tiempo que se venden excedente de energía durante el día al operador de red. Por último, se evalúa el impacto económico y los beneficios de dicha articulación.

New requirements for a better sustainable energy policy around the world are easy to observe, many projects in sustainable energy are developed wherein the academia works together the authorities and commercial firms such as electrical grid utilities. Companies in the energy sector, mainly those in the electricity sector, are working on the implementation of new technologies and strategies to reduce their impact on the environment due to the large areas they cover. One of the main assets are local distribution transformers, these equipment use insulating and refrigerant medium mineral oil, these oils have a negative impact on the environment due to their chemical properties, for this reason one of the suggested solutions is to replace mineral oil by fluids based on natural esters, also known as vegetable oils, which provide better technical and environmental properties compared to mineral oils, making it a safe substitute for mineral oil. Natural esters are based on clean technologies in order to guarantee the proper behavior and operation of transformation equipment. The main goal of the present paper is to present a technical-economic analysis obtained from five years of applications of oil-immersed transformers using natural ester fluids in Colombia. The methodology considers forty-four oil-immersed distribution Transformers, a half use mineral oil and the other side use natural ester, operating under the same load regime. Results evidenced the feasibility of implementing this technology because the costs are very similar, and the reduction of risks and environmental impact is considerable.

La tesis de maestría en Eficiencia Energética y Energía Renovable que se presenta tiene como objetivo evaluar la eficiencia energética de motores trifásicos de inducción (MTIs) alimentados desde sistemas fotovoltaicos (SFs). La investigación se origina a partir de estudios que demuestran que los SFs, si bien tiene beneficios ambientales, también producen problemas en los sistemas eléctricos como inestabilidad en la generación de energía, problemas de regulación de frecuencia, generación de armónicos e inestabilidad de potencia reactiva. Estos estudios, sin embargo, no analizan la influencia que puede tener los SFs en la eficiencia de los MTI. En la investigación se comparó las características electromecánicas y la eficiencia de un MTI alimentado desde la red eléctrica en relación con la alimentación desde un SF. Los estudios experimentales demostraron que, con la alimentación desde el SF, se incrementó la tensión y los armónicos de tensión y corrientes en comparación con la alimentación desde la red eléctrica. Estos problemas, producidos por el inversor, redujeron la eficiencia del MTI hasta en un 2,7% comparado con la alimentación desde la red eléctrica. El MTI modelado en condiciones reales de variación de la carga, consumió 2,6 % más de energía alimentado desde el SF, en relación con la alimentación desde la red eléctrica. Los resultados de la investigación pretenden llamar la atención a las entidades responsables de la instalación y operación de SF, que deben considerar la calidad de la energía suministrada por estos sistemas, pues se puede afectar la operación de los MTI y aumentar el consumo de energía.

The interest of this investigation arises because in the Atlantic Coast there are areas that do not have electricity service or have a poor provision. This service allows communities to generate progress and improve the quality of life of the inhabitants. This research will evaluate project alternatives to define the best technical-economic option for the electric power service in the village of La Peña - Sabanalarga. This analysis takes into account the laws, norms and decrees that cover the FAZNI projects, Financial Support Fund for the Energization of Non-Interconnected Zones, which are defined by Article 82 of Law 633 of 2000; these are a special account fund of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) without legal status, subject to applicable regulations and other applicable regulations (Electricaribe, 2017). The FAZNI resources come entirely from the nation and from the resources channeled by the government due to different public and private sources. As a result of the project, a comparison of scenarios was obtained through technical and economic variations to energize La Peña - Sabanalarga, ZNI, the final results show that through the creation of a Medium Voltage Network connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN) is the better solution to meet the need for electric power service.

The Universidad de la Costa (CUC) has been promoting the creation of Spin-Off since 2014, however, it is detected that there is poor monitoring on the progress processes that these small companies have after their creation. At the same time, the different types of Spin-Off that exist and which of those created have an environmental approach are unknown to the academic and scientific community. This research aims to propose a model for the Sustainable Management of Spin-Off at the University of the Coast. To obtain this result, the conceptual and administrative differences between companies, NGOs, foundations and Spin-Off are identified at the International and National level. The types of Spin-Off that the University has and their effectiveness are related to the mission for which they were created. Twelve surveys were applied to professors who possess Spin-Off in the university, as well as 3 interviews to department deans. A total of 19 certificates are issued in the Chamber of Commerce of Barranquilla. With the results obtained, the model for the Sustainable Management of Spin-Off in the CUC is developed, incorporating 6 stages and 15 steps. It is concluded that Spin-Offs are a type of company that encourages the development of research, innovation and knowledge in the academic field, however, a greater emphasis is required in its monitoring of its implementation so that its impact is efficient and its effectiveness and sustainability are guaranteed.

In this paper, an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is used to investigate the influence of rolling parameters such as thickness reduction, inter-strand tension, rolling speed and friction on the rolling force, rolling power, and slip of tandem cold rolling. For this reason, the rolling power was derived for 195 various experiments through a series of observation tests. The network is trained and tested using real data collected from a practical tandem rolling line. The best topology of the ANN is determined by Broyden–Fletcher–Goldfarb–Shanno (BFGS) training algorithm and error, and nine neurons in the hidden layer had the best performance. The average of the training, testing, and validating correlation coefficients data sets are mentioned 0.947, 0.924, and 0.943, respectively. The obtained results show MSE value 4.2 × 10−4 for predicting slip. In addition, the effect of friction and angular velocity condition on the cold rolling critical slip phenomena are investigated. The results show that ANNs can accurately predict the cold rolling parameters considered in this study.
