Sexual and reproductive health in adolescents has been widely addressed in the literature, since
lack of awareness and appropriate behavior in sexual practices at an early age can generate
serious problems such as early pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections. In this sense, the
objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the COMPAS program in promoting
healthy sexuality in Afro-Colombian adolescents in the city of Barranquilla. Based on a quasiexperimental methodology with a quantitative approach such as pre-tests and poles, an
intervention was carried out with the COMPAS program. First, a pre-test questionnaire was
applied as an initial diagnosis to an intentional sample of 128 students divided into an
experimental and control group of 64 each, all of whom belonged to the La Esmeralda and
Institución Etnoeducativa Paulino Salgado Batata schools; then the five sessions of the
COMPAS program were carried out, ending in a third stage with the post-test phase, where an
evaluation was applied to determine significant changes. In the results, it was identified that
sexual practices in adolescents are common, and the T Student test carried out revealed that there
are no significant differences in the knowledge, beliefs, attitudes and sexual behavior of
adolescents after the intervention with the COMPAS program. It is concluded that students did
not modify the above components, which is discussed in light of recent literature.
