The purpose of this study was to evaluate the water quality in tourist beaches Pradomar Sabanilla and in the municipality of Puerto Colombia, Atlántico in different periods of time (months). For this, the methodology used by expert judgment, which allowed to carry out the construction of the index, where the following parameters were identified: Total coliforms, fecal coliforms, dissolved oxygen, BOD5, pH, temperature and turbidity.
The results show for the beaches of Pradomar at months 1 and 3 quality is influenced by the microbial load, fecal coliform loads a reason for the presence of dumping. As for Sabanilla, not as point sources of pollution discharges were identified, however, it is clear that this body of water is affected by its proximity to the mouth of the Magdalena River.
Finally, it was found that there is an inverse relationship between water quality and the number of tourists who frequent these beaches.
