The study of the development of peoples and the state of conser-vation of their heritage is an extremely important subject, since it helps to know, among other things, the ways of life of a place and the cultural identity of its people at a specific time. The study of the architectural heritage antecedents in the department of Atlántico is proposed, in the specific case of built heritage, which allows not only to know the degree of maintenance of the structures that form part of it, but also to explore the different ways of understanding the environment, based on factors such as its morphology and typol-ogy. Some municipalities in the South of the department of Atlántico have been affected from the natural catastrophe occurred by the winter hour in 2011, which has caused a strong impact not only in the state of the buildings, but in the socio-economic field, generating hopelessness in a community rooted in a place, which is commonly organized around a public space flanked by a religious unit and administrative buildings, surrounded by numerous houses, which could translate into an urban morphology typical of a programmed and standardized activity of the Spanish colonization. The study of the architectural heritage antecedents in the department of Atlántico is designed with the intention of providing municipal administra-tions with a tool that serves as support to request, in accordance with the Norms and Criteria of the Ministry of Culture, the allocation of resources for the Programs of Restoration and Maintenance of National Monuments carried out by the Directorate of Heritage

Continuous and increasing human coastal occupations and developments, often linked to the lack of adequate management plans, seriously threat coastal and marine environments. The knowledge of natural aspects of coastal environments and human occupation characteristics is essential for adequate and sound coastal planning. The present research characterized 80 coastal sites scenic value along the South and Center-South coast of Santa Catarina (Brazil), which receive huge tourist arrivals during the summer season, i.e. from December to March. Coastal evaluation was carried out by means of the Scenery Evaluation System and information on conservation status, beach awards and human occupation level was also gathered. Sites located on the Central-South coast have higher D values due to their relevant physical characteristics, such as the presence of bays, cliffs, mountainous landscape, etc. being very different from those in the South, where the coast is low, rectilinear and unattractive. Class I represents c. 10% of the Center-South coast and class V c. 8%. In the South, the situation is different and none of the sectors was assessed as class I or III, only one sector belongs to class II, and the rest are classified as class IV and V. Obtained information opens new viewpoints to local coastal managers for analysis of the potential for national and international coastal tourism development in: i) natural areas, taking into account that a growing category of beach goers prefer isolated sites of great scenic beauty, and ii) for scenic quality improvement of current tourist developed areas.

El presente estudio tiene como objetivo conocer el comportamiento proambiental mediado por la investigación como estrategia pedagógica para la conservación de manglares. Emplea una metodología de tipo cualitativo con un alcance descriptivo, utilizando técnicas de recolección de información, como la observación directa y la población participante, conformada por cuarenta (40) estudiantes del grado décimo de la Institución Educativa Gilberto Acuña Rangel ubicada en el municipio de El Banco, Magdalena. Los resultados dejaron en evidencia que mediante el proceso de investigación se puede describir e interiorizar el daño ecológico ocasionado por la actividad humana, a partir de entrevistas a la comunidad aplicadas por estudiantes durante salidas de campo, en donde exploran los contenidos teóricos desde el acercamiento a este problema.

In order to define strategies in the sustainable management of tropical agricultural soils, this research assessed the soil biodiversity (macrofauna, mesofauna, and microfauna) in the soil of agricultural units in northern Colombia. The study was carried out in 200 agricultural production units in the department of Sucre, in northern Colombia. The physicochemical characteristics organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, and pH were determined in the laboratory for each soil sample. To determine the composition of the macrofauna and mesofauna, the Berlesse-Tullgren method was used and for the microfauna the sown surface plate count method. The biodiversity of the communities was quantified with diversity indices and a Pearson correlation was carried out to determine the relationships between the soil fauna and the soil quality parameters. In the macrofauna, a total of 1330 individuals were found, distributed in 22 orders and 65 families; the families Tenebrionidae, Formicidae, Staphylinidae, Scarabaeidae and Julide presented the highest abundance and distribution. In the mesofauna a total of 1171 individuals were found, distributed in the classes Arachnida with 7 families and Collembola with 4 families; the Scheloribatidae, Isotomidae and Galumnidae families presented the highest abundance and distribution. The indices of richness (S), Shannon-Wiener diversity (H) and Simpson dominance (D) indicated that biodiversity was higher in the macrofauna. Pearson's correlation indicated statistically significant correlations between soil mesofauna with OM (R2 = 0.87, p-value ≤ 0.05) and mesofauna with P (R2 = 0.70, p-value ≤ 0.05). The relationships between fauna and soil chemical variables indicate that soil biological diversity is sensitive to changes in the soil environment. This research revealed the 9 importance of carrying out studies on the three components of the soil fauna (macrofauna, mesofauna and microfauna), since all three contribute to the enrichment of the soil to obtain nourished crops that allow them to survive climate changes. Finally, this research may serve as a baseline to define strategies for sustainable management of tropical agricultural soils.

The objective of this document is to make a detailed technical report of the entire process developed in the creation of the Urban Heritage Clinic, Universidad de la Costa (CUPUC). The project is carried out through the Territorial Management I Subject within the Framework of the Challenges Program, which solves the Challenge of the protection and conservation of the El Prado neighborhood of the City of Barranquilla. The study began with the identification of problems within the sector such as urban infractions within it, lack of guidance and knowledge on the part of the community itself regarding the conservation and care of the properties of the El Prado neighborhood. Taking all this into account, a portfolio of services was created that solves the Challenge of the protection and conservation of the Neighborhood, in which pedagogies, training, consultancies and identification of urban infractions and surveillance are provided.

In the first place, it was characterized by investigating the level of environmental knowledge in the classroom, through observation of the teacher's teaching and the checklist to further deepen the students' notion about environmental care. Subsequently, playful and educational strategies were adapted through games and environmental education by teachers and parents that contributed to the understanding and understanding of the impact of the conservation of the planet. Finally, the implementation of the program of each activity was evaluated through a focus group, resulting positive since the boys and girls were strengthened in their attitudes and behaviors towards caring for the environment

The present research was carried out based on a mixed qualitative and quantitative methodology, which took into account the preparation of interviews and surveys that determined the protection and conservation of immovable material cultural heritage by the public administration in the period 2016- 2020 in Sabanalarga-Atlántico. It was determined that the municipality of Sabanalarga Atlántico in the 2016-2020 period lacks state policies and citizen initiatives to protect and preserve the real estate that are part of the cultural heritage in good condition. Likewise, it was identified that the cultural patrimonialization by the inhabitants of Sabanalarga-Atlántico; they are aware of the existence of assets declared cultural heritage in the municipality; that is, they identify and know the presence of having cultural heritage, attributing value to it due to its historical context. However, the lack of guidance in the identification, care and conservation of cultural heritage by the relevant entities established by law, it is reflected that the citizens of Sabanalarga do not have the commitment and responsibility to ensure its management, protection and safeguarding And finally we build tools that allow us to know, value and protect heritage so that we can use, enjoy and preserve that legacy that belongs to us.

Microbial richness of agricultural soils is an indicator of its health and fertility with a significant impact on crop yields. Present study analyzed the relationship between nitrogen-fixing bacteria and physicochemical characteristics of agricultural soils in the southern department of Atlántico, Colombia. Soil samples were collected from 10 sites of Repelón irrigation district, for physicochemical analysis (pH, organic matter, texture, moisture and available phosphorus) and isolation of nitrogen-fixing bacterial’ strains using nitrogen-free culture media. Results demostrated the higher previlance of nitrogen–fixing bacteria in northern zone and central zone of the Repelón irrigation district (1.63 × 108 CFU g-1 for strain-1, 5.2 × 107 CFU g-1 for strain-2 and 4.5 × 107 CFU g-1 for strain-3). On the other hand, the physicochemical characteristics of soil show the adequacy to sustain nitrogen-fixing bacteria. The findings of the present research may serve as a baseline to identify soil micorganisms and defining strategies for sustainable management of agricultural soils in the region because these are integral component in ecosystem for nutrient recycling. © 2017, Soil Science Society of Pakistan

El patrimonio mantiene una estrecha relación entre generaciones cuyas características temporales continúan presentes y dan contexto a su cultura y sociedad, haciendo que su memoria sea más valiosa y su historia más grande. En el Centro histórico de Barranquilla se ha observado deterioro en algunos inmuebles arquitectónicos de carácter patrimonial, esto debido al poco sentido de pertenencia de los ciudadanos hacia la historia que representan las edificaciones, en las que diariamente transcurren y conviven los ciudadanos, y que son puntos culturalmente fuertes y de una representación histórica importante para Barranquilla. Esta investigación se centra en el análisis de dinámicas cotidianas en el Centro Histórico de Barranquilla, la comprensión e identificación de los disimiles factores que afectan la conservación de la identidad local y el sentido de lugar a treves con la pérdida de la apropiación de la ciudadanía barranquillera con su Centro histórico; mediante una metodología de enfoque cualitativo, donde se recolectó y analizó la información de datos, utilizando un método intuitivo fundamentado en observaciones e interpretaciones realizadas, partiendo del análisis de entrevistas realizadas a grupos de interés, generando como resultados, respuestas a las causas de los eventos y fenómenos físicos sociales que experimentó el Centro de Barranquilla. Como conclusión, se pudo establecer que la comunidad es un pilar fundamental en la preservación y conservación del estado de los inmuebles patrimoniales en las ciudades, pues es por medio de ellos que las tradiciones y la cultura cobran vida y se representan e identifican como ciudad misma.

The threat of extinction of the Hicotea turtle species has motivated the community of San Sebastián to work on raising awareness on the importance of preserving the ecological balance of the species. The purpose of this study is to design and implement a sustainable management plan, focusing on the practices to be used to preserve the Hicotea by the students, parents and teachers of Las Mercedes Departmental School. The study takes a qualitative approach, of a descriptive type, based on interviews of the students at the Externado de San Sebastián School. The main conclusion is that students are motivated to preserve species such as the Hicotea turtle, but further education on environmental impacts is required.
