Corrosion is a phenomenon that affects the quality of the materials used in construction, which causes losses from an economic point of view, as well as affects the functionality of a structure, generating possible safety problems for people or users. Therefore, it is important to consider this phenomenon when designing and constructing buildings. In this work a porticoed structure was designed complying with the requirements of the current Colombian standard NSR-10 carried out in SAP 2000, likewise, by means of determined correlations and methods for the study of the corrosion of steel embedded in concrete which involve variables What; coating thickness, concrete quality, presence of chloride in the environment, concrete porosity and the intensity of corrosion Icorr. The degree of corrosion of the armor was calculated for a period of 50 years. The results show for said time a percentage of corrosion of 2.37% (Loss of mass of the reinforcement) and a loss of the resistance to compression f`c of the structural elements of 2.45%. An analysis is carried out from the structural life point on the affectation that the structure could suffer from the effects of corrosion for a particular case study.
