Education reforms in Latin America have significantly changed the panorama in terms of stability and incen-tives for teachers in the region in recent decades. The different governments try to establish mechanisms that allow them to have a better control of the budget, but in their eagerness to achieve objectives suggested by international organizations, such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), they establish policies that are not agreed upon with the unions in their elaboration. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to analyze the behavior of such education reforms in the Latin American context, with emphasis on the changes of recent decades. Documentary review and content analysis serve as a methodological basis for deriving a system of theoretical categories in atten-tion to the research topic. Among the results, categories such as the impact of well-paid teachers on the quality of education, as well as the role played by unions in the processes of consultation and dialogue with governments, stand out. It is concluded that there is a need to generate solid criteria that allow us to evaluate the current state of the education sector from an objective perspective, paying special attention to the system of income, permanence, promotions, and incentives for teachers in Latin America.

This project arises from the need to save time and costs in civil works by improving productivity in order to be more competitive. Today the incursion of technological tools to improve business performance is a significant advantage. The implementation of the Time Lapse method is intended to simulate work scenarios from the recordings obtained with the implementation of this tool, in order to determine the optimum time from a work distribution thrown by simulations made by the Arena Software. With the acquired results, the corrective and preventive actions necessary for the distribution of the personnel in work and the efficiency of this one are implemented, which makes the work more productivity, because it saves time and costs. This is very useful because the procedure performed can be studied to create a plan of action through which strategies are created. Everything starts from the assembly of the equipment on site, with which a diagnosis is made of the procedures to be analyzed by the method, previously it is made a record of the current state of the work and of the conditions, then it is recorded during all the activity, We proceed to the analysis of the video will take the recorded times and the distribution of the work crew for the activity to subsequently carry out a study to identify which are the critical variables affect the productivity in the work.

This paper titled Analysis of the evaluation system of teacher performance Coast University. C.U.C. was aimed to: Analyze the Performance Evaluation process for teachers at the University of Costa. The methodology used for this research comes from emerging paradigms, in which qualitative and quantitative data are used, the approach of this Joint research perspective, allows the interaction of the two types of methods in the instruments used. Emphasis on the ethnographic method that seeks to detail the nature of the object of study is addressed. The reporting population consisted of 3 officers belonging to the Faculty of Humanities and the administrative area of the University. They also made part 24 teachers; also were observed 126 students from various programs of the University, in four (4) sessions of evaluation, of which 12 students were interviewed randomly selected among those involved in evaluations rooms University systems. Analysis of the evaluation system of teaching performance of Coast University, identified the models used to evaluate teacher performance in Coast University, and also to determine which are framed in methodology 360 comprising: Self ; hetero, by assessing students and evaluating managers; cohevaluación well as between peers. This is considered an integral model. Regarding the relevance of the instruments used in the evaluation of teaching at the University of the Coast, we can say that it is important for managers how being implemented tools in virtual and online platform also have chosen the best strategies and the best questions for the instruments in the assessment model CUC. Regarding the perception that teachers and students on the functions of evaluating teacher performance at the University of Costa, allows an institutional look, allows feedback processes; implementing a comprehensive assessment process teacher performance is itself one of its functions, objective perspective towards processes oriented teaching.

One of the greatest challenges of Education in Colombia is to reach the goal of being the most educated country in Latin America by 2025. Achieving this purpose requires changing learning strategies in schools so that from that ambitious challenge can be achieved. Many institutions including (INOBASOL), have shown low performance rates in critical reading in secondary education. From this point of view, this project this research was aimed at strengthening communication skills through technology. In tenth grade youth, with the aim of contributing to the improvement of critical reading levels. The research was conducted under a positivist paradigm, a quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, transactional and field approach, with a finite population of tenth year students. Instruments such as virtual survey applied to Teachers and students were used, taking into account the results obtained through the state tests and the Inobasolista Test. The expected results will allow students to improve reading and critical thinking skills , meet the goals proposed in the institutional improvement plan and be able to achieve high levels of performance in the Saber tests, the institution supported the project, providing the necessary spaces for socialize and gather the information to give viability to the project.

This paper analyzes the governance practices in the dimension of the family and ownership, and its impact in the financial and family performance. From an empirical perspective, we provide a exploratory evidence on how the governance practice in the structures of governance in the family and ownership, impacts in the financial results and the socioemotional wealth of the family.The results show that the implementation of corporate governance practices in the family and ownership dimensions is not a reliable indicator of a direct relationship with business performance. In addition, we found strong tendencies to preserve the family’s socioemotional wealth. Furthermore, unity, honesty, transparency and amity are factors boosting both family and business success.This study has some limitations, the qualitative method used, such as the case study, allows an analytic exploration of the findings. However, it would be suitable further future quantitive approaches to generalize our results and extract more objective conclusions

The aim of the present study was to analyse diﬀerences in the psychoneuroendocrine stress responses of high-level, young swimmers depending on whether an autocratic and democratic coaching style was applied. Modiﬁcations in cortisol and the motivational climate of 18 young swimmers (15.3±1.86 years, 10 females and 8 males) were analysed before and after two training sessions with equivalent training loads but directed by two coaches applying diﬀerent approaches, i.e., autocratic (A) and democratic (D). The basal testosterone levels of the coaches were also assessed. The basal testosterone concentration was higher in coach A than in coach D; the athletes perceived them as autocratic and democratic, respectively. Swimmers under coach A’s instructions showed higher cortisol levels, suggesting higher cortisol production related to coaching style. Furthermore, diﬀerences in the motivational climate concerning ego (i.e., athletes comparing their ability with that ofotherathletes)wereobservedwithcoachA,whereasdiﬀerencesinmotivationalclimateconcerning the task (i.e., athletes comparing their ability with their own past performance) were observed with coach D. Cognitive variables showed negative perceptions aﬀecting athletes’ training experience and performance when they were screamed at or insulted by coach A. There were no gender or age diﬀerences in cortisol production or motivational climate. In conclusion, this study suggests that an autocratic coaching style modulates cortisol release in both genders, aﬀecting young elite swimmers’ motivational climate and training experience.

In this study, the effect of adding hydrogen to natural gas and EGR ratio was conducted on a diesel engine to investigate the engine performance and exhaust gases by AVL Fire multi-domain simulation software. For this investigation, a mixture of hydrogen fuel and natural gas replaced diesel fuel. The percentage of hydrogen in blend fuel changed from 0% to 40%. The compression ratio converted from 17:1 to 15:1. The EGR ratios were in three steps of 5%, 10%, and 15%, with different engine speeds from 1000 to 1800 RPM. The Gaussian process regression (GPR) was developed to model engine performance and exhaust emissions. The optimal values of EGR and the percentage of hydrogen in the blend of HCNG were extracted using a multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA). The results showed that by increasing EGR, thermal efficiency, the engine power, and specific fuel consumption decreased due to prolongation of combustion length while cumulative heat release increased but, its effect on cylinder pressure is insignificant. Adding hydrogen to natural gas increased the combustion temperature and, consequently NOx. While the amount of CO and HC decreased. The results of GPR and MOGA illustrated that at different engine speeds, the optimum values of EGR and HCNG were 6.35% and 31%, respectively.

The results show that BD optimal size for the Colombian case is between 6 and 10 members; and there is no evidence to affirm that the relationship between the characteristics of the studied BD and economic performance is significant.

The present study sought to propose and implement innovative pedagogical strategies and practices, through the use of ICT, to improve the academic performance of high school students of the Algodonal Educational Institution of the municipality of Santa Lucia (Atlántico); In its development it focused on two (2) major variables: 1. The methodological strategies of the humanistic pedagogical model used by the teachers and 2. The epistemological approach of this research is the critical rationalist, the paradigm is mixed, and the type of research is non-experimental, the target population are middle school students (10th and 11th) and teachers of the institution in question. Among the theoretical bases are: The Constitution of 1991, the laws (115 of 1994, 1341 of 2009, 1098 of 2006, 1581 of 2012 and other annexes) the curricular guidelines of mathematics, basic standards of competencies, the frameworks of reference for evaluation, and the ideas of thinkers such as: Rogers, Ausubel, Nieblas, Diaz, Gross, Soares and others. Among the main findings are: 1. The low level of academic performance in basic areas by students in grades 10 and 11; 2. The non-application of the institutional educational model by teachers in the development of their classes; 3. As a conclusion of the research, the proposal of a didactic strategy that integrates the use and application of ICT in mathematics classes was proposed as a matter of urgency.

This way the scholar process gets sharpened up, and it makes possible to researchers analyzing how academic elements have an impact on the student’s virtual classroom performance. We have planned to present qualitative results based on an interpretative perspective while gathering up documentary, quoting classified authors, surveying a segment of 90 students from a 2,144 community each of them signed up in the virtual classrooms available within the CUC. At the end they are shown as results of how some academic elements are decisive in the student’s performance. This investigation was mainly aimed to contribute in the improvement on the students’ performance who has signed up in virtual classroom as well.

The objective of this research was to develop a comparative analysis of the factors that influence the performance of social enterprises in Colombia. It was qualitative in nature, presenting a documentary typology with a comparative analytical level. The methodological procedure was: Phase I.- The factors that have set the tone in Latin America were determined. Phase II: The aspects that affect the performance of social enterprises in comparison with Latin America and Colombia were identified, as well as Phase III: In which the advantages for the Colombian population were established. As it was documentary, it did not proceed with the categorization of sample elements coming from a population. The information was collected from printed and electronic sources using notebooks, index cards and computers and the Internet. All relevant information was analyzed in countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, in order to have a holistic vision of the factors that have been transcendental or not in the success of social entrepreneurship. The analytical study was conducted concluding that the success of a social enterprise has been grouped into four categories according to the origin of the factors: contextual, organizational, entrepreneurial team and the solution to the social problem. As for the aspects that were identified as incidents in Latin America in comparison with Colombia, there are two categories: the Entrepreneurial Team and the Solution given to the social problem by the initiative. In the same way, there are numerous advantages that social entrepreneurship has brought in Colombia since it has a vulnerable population in many areas, being the group of individuals displaced as a result of violent conflicts the most reviewed, so that social entrepreneurship has managed to develop, achieving economic stability as a result of innovation, leadership, creativity and impetus to demonstrate their human talent. The theme of the identity work of the teacher refers to the way how the teacher lives subjectively his work, the factors of satisfaction and dissatisfaction and the perception of their work by the society. All of this depends, then, of the work context and the paths of professional life. This is the theme that deals with the research, as a search for traits that characterize the identity work of teachers in a specific context: the rural sector in the departments of Atlántico and Magdalena. This is to handle variables that constitute the axes of the resolutions formulated, namely: identity work of the teacher, personal and professional profile, school climate, and adoption of the law school effect. The research approach is mixed (quantitative and qualitative), the paradigm is descriptive, the type of research is explanatory and the method is inductive. Confront the results obtained from the field work with the theories and studies conducted in the research, and concludes with an analysis and interpretation of the data obtained to identify the traits that characterize the identity work of the teacher in the rural sector, as are the projection of your personal and professional image to the practice in the context, the commitment of bonding and belonging to the environment, identification with the mission, continuing education, correspondence with the social frameworks that give meaning to the community, among others. Objetivo: El objetivo del este trabajo es presentar los resultados de una metodología experimental aplicada para estimar el desempeño mecánico y ambiental de un vehículo alimentado con gasolina y gas natural, específicamente cuando al motor se le suministran productos resultantes de la hidrólisis del agua. Metodología: Para el suministro de dichos productos al vehículo se le instalo un dispositivo hidrólisis externo, y el vehículo fue instrumentado con una quinta rueda, sensores de temperatura y velocidad de revoluciones del motor, para realizar pruebas de aceleración en una carretera plana y una carretera con pendiente longitudinal. Adicionalmente, se realizaron pruebas de torque y potencia con dinamómetro de chasis y pruebas de emisiones contaminantes y de consumo de combustible. Las pruebas fueron realizadas en las afueras de la ciudad de Bogotá DC - Colombia, ubicada a 2650 m sobre el nivel del mar. Resultados: Los resultados muestran que los productos de la hidrólisis no mejoran el desempeño mecánico del vehículo, ya que aumentan el tiempo para llegada a las velocidades definidas en las pruebas de aceleración hasta en un 18% en el motor con gasolina y 7% en el motor con gas natural, mientras que el torque y la potencia del motor se incrementa alrededor del 1%. Por otro lado, los resultados de las pruebas de emisiones contaminantes indican que el consumo de combustible se reduce aproximadamente en un 7%. Conclusiones: Los resultados indican que el desempeño del vehículo no mejora, aunque el consumo de combustible disminuye, el desempeño ambiental no disminuye.

El estudio se orientó a analizar el liderazgo como prospectiva del clima organizacional en el sector hotelero de Cartagena de Indias. Se sustentó teóricamente en Robbins y Judge (2017), Brunet (2011), entre otros. El tipo de investigación fue descriptiva de campo, con un diseño no experimental, transversal. La población estuvo constituida por una muestra de 35 empleados operativos del sector hotelero de Cartagena, a quienes se les aplicó un cuestionario con escala Likert. El instrumento fue validado según el juicio de 5 expertos y la confiabilidad se destaca según el método de Crombach, cuyo resultado es 0,84. El análisis de datos se realizó mediante estadísticas descriptivas, utilizando un baremo de interpretación, construido bajo las bases de puntajes mínimos y máximos de la escala utilizada. Se presentan las tendencias por variable, posterior la correlación entre ella. Como resultado se concibe que, en el sector hotelero el estilo de liderazgo genera una relación con el clima organizacional predominante con un coeficiente de Pearson de 0,86, determinando una relación muy significativa. Se concluyó que, en las organizaciones objeto de estudio el estilo de liderazgo es generalmente autoritario y cerrado, lo que implica tensiones en el ambiente y en la ejecución de los procesos.

Para ello se identifican teórica y empíricamente los sistemas de asignación de costos usados por las entidades, ubicando el costo basado en actividades- ABC como la metodología modelo, luego se contrasta con los aportes teóricos desarrollados por Shank y Govidarajan para finalmente desarrollar la propuesta.

Nutrition, hydration and ergogenic aids strategies in ultraendurance mountain events

BACKGROUND: The purpose of the present research was to analyze nutrition, hydration and ergogenic aids strategies in ultraendurance mountain events. METHODS: A total of 386 ultra endurance mountain races finishers were analyzed. They were divided into three groups according to their race distance: G1: distance less than 45 km (n: 250); G2 distances between 45 and 90 km (n: 71); G3 distances longer than 90 km (n: 65). The ergogenic, nutritional and hydration strategies were quantified after each race by a questionnaire. RESULTS: We found a higher ingestion of (0.56 ± 0.95), caffeine (G3 M±SD; 203.8±211.5 mg), water (G3 M±SD; 7.1±3.7 l) and Portion of Sandwich (nutrition 5.3±7.4) NSAID in longer distance probes. Higher performance runners in low and medium distances consumed a significantly (p>0.05) lower quantity of gels (higher 0.76±0.98 vs lower 1.38±1.38), and muesli bar (higher 1.09±1.13 vs lower 2.04±1.94), and in long distances. Higher performance consumed more water (M±SD; higher 8.23±3.92 vs lower 6.12±3.28) than lower performance ones. They also could maintain a higher rated of perceived exertion than lower performance (G3 M±SD; higher 16.7±2.28 vs lower 18.2±1.71). CONCLUSIONS: Higher distance presented higher nutritional, caffeine and NSAIDs ingestion than lower distances, also, higher performance athletes of higher distance presenter higher water and nutritional ingestion than lower performance ones. In Lower distance probes, higher performance athletes presented lower hydration and nutritional ingestion than lower performance athletes.

The results show good communication skills in graduates, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge.

Organizational resilience and performance: an analysis of the relevance of suppliers’ trade credit and bank diversification in the Spanish construction industry

The objective of this study is to determine the effect of relevant variables related to strategic sources of financial resources—in our case, suppliers’ trade credit and use of financial institutions—over performance among Spanish construction firms. To test the proposed hypotheses, we employ panel-data techniques on a large dataset that includes information for 3590 Spanish small (1723), medium-sized (1616) and large (251) construction businesses during 2004-2011. The results of the longitudinal analysis reveal that trade credit granted by suppliers constitute a relevant source of liquidity and financial resources that positively impacts economic performance. During the period of economic downturn that affected Spain after 2008, those construction firms that benefited from longer average payment periods from their suppliers reported superior performance levels. Additionally, we find that bank diversification is conducive to performance but only during the crisis period: performance is significantly higher in businesses that work with a greater number of financial institutions.
