The purpose of this project is to strengthen the Integral Management of Solid Waste Generated in Health Care in the ASMEDIC-U infirmary of the Universidad de la Costa, it is expected to improve the current management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated there, in addition to strengthening existing programs, since some are outdated in terms of regulations; in this way, achieving compliance with the requirements demanded by the authorities of surveillance and control. In the research, a check was made of the activities carried out in the infirmary in terms of waste management, a documentary review was made to verify compliance with current environmental regulations on solid waste management, activities were defined for each stage of integrated waste management and indicators were established to verify compliance with the measures and strategies proposed throughout the document. Finally, it is expected that the nursing ASMEDIC-U of the Universidad de la Costa will continuously apply the recommendations generated in this project, in order to seek continuous improvement and comply with the requirements demanded by the surveillance and control authorities.

One of the challenges that we face as humanity is to set aside traditional behaviors and start taking healthy actions that involve all aspects of the environment. The management of waste and emphatically the reuse of waste materials, one of the strategies that little by little take force in this society that is seeing the that all sectors work on strategies to be friendly to the environment and at the same time satisfy their needs damage that is causing each of its actions, the excessive consumerism of natural resources, the industries, the cities and in general the daily life of an irresponsible humanity are all the things that evidence and ask for a change."The fact of manipulating waste and besides using the ingenuity to turn them into something useful and beautiful, is very innovative and almost daring according to certain social conventions" A. Bahamón 2008. The situation is critical and demands or demands, social and environmental responsibility must be present in every action and thought that is conceived, it is not a whim, it is not fashion or vanity is an imperative need, the planet can´t afford to continue on the same path towards self-destruction. The usability of waste in the field of architecture, construction, urban planning and design is one of the strategies to mitigate the high rate of consumption and impact that these activities generate for the environment, as well as being something that benefits from other points of seen as it is the economic and the energetic, betting on the transformation and reuse is an ambitious but realistic challenge.

The present study focused on the use of sewage sludge (SS) as a casing material amendment and the potential uptake of metal elements by the cultivated white button (Agaricus bisporus: MS-39) mushroom. Laboratory experiments were performed under controlled environmental conditions to grow A. bisporus on the composted wheat straw substrate for 50 days. Different treatments (0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 g/kg) of casing material were prepared by mixing garden and dried SS and applied on the mushroom substrate after proper sterilization. The results revealed that SS application was significant (p < 0.05) in accelerating mushroom yield with a biological efficiency of 65.02% for the mixing rate of 200 g/kg. Moreover, the maximum bioaccumulation of selected metal elements (Cu, Cr, Cd, Fe, Mn, and Zn) was observed using the same treatment. Additionally, the multiple regression models constructed for the uptake prediction of metal elements showed an acceptable coefficient of determination (R2 > 0.9900), high model efficiency (ME > 0.98), and low root mean square error (RMSE < 0.410) values, respectively. The findings of this study represent sustainable use of SS for the formulation of mushroom casing material contributing toward synergistic agro-economy generation and waste management.
