The world has advanced and with it new needs and new commitments have arisen on the part of humanity to generate changes. Many years and centuries ago, it was considered normal to communicate between people in writing for days, to market between one town and another, it
would last even weeks and that was generated by the absence of effective means of
communication.
Today, there have been many advances between human ingenuity and technology, have been established. Fast access roads, ways to shorten times, routes of all kinds that make life easier for us in a certain way. When designing a road, there are many factors to consider. From its base or
ground, to its most superficial part. We consider as a problem and we seek to analyze the fact
that we do not have total clarity of what factors directly influence the costs of the preparation of rigid pavements; in particular oriented to the pavements of the Caribbean region. The purpose is to obtain a clear and concise manual of which factors have the greatest impact on the cost of the
pavement. It is compared directly, results thrown under the same variables to analyze better by
means of the methods AASHTO 93 (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) and PCA (Portland Cement Association), applied to rigid pavements. Within these comparatives, there are some universal variables such as: an initial transit that is acquired
through gauging carried out in ways to be evaluated and the projection of the vehicles that are
initially registered, CBR (California Bearing Ratio) soil support capacity obtained by means of sampling and previously conducted studies and some other variables, such as fatigue and erosion criteria, used mostly in the PCA methodology.
