Infantile depression prevalence in Barranquilla official schools
Abstract
This article aims to describe the prevalence of symptoms of Child depression in boys and girls. For this test was also carried out a simple random sampling, in which employment as shows a total of 178 students from 4° to 6° belonging to public high schools in the city of Barranquilla. In addition as an instrument is employment the Child Depression Inventory Commission Kovacs Colloquium (1992) in its Spanish version. The results showed a 15.73 % of symptoms of child depression, which is equivalent to 28 children. When comparing the levels of prevalence by gender girls presented a 18.6 per cent unlike children with 1304 %. Also it should be noted that between 11 and 12 years were reported the highest levels of prevalence of symptoms of depression with percentages of 6.18 % and 4.49 % respectively. Finally, it should be pointed out that the factor that received the highest prevalence in the depression child self-esteem was negative.
