ESTIMACIÓN DE LA HUELLA DE CARBONO DE LA SOCIEDAD PORTUARIA RÍO GRANDE UTILIZANDO LA NORMA ISO 14064

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se calculó la huella de carbono de la Sociedad Portuaria Río Grande (SPRG) bajo los requisitos de la norma ISO 14064. Inicialmente se realizó la identificación de las fuentes de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI), donde se resaltó que las principales actividades generadoras de GEI es el consumo de combustible, el consumo de electricidad y el almacenamiento de coque en los patios del puerto. Además, se identificó que SPRG cuenta con sumideros de CO2 (barreras vivas) las cuales logran un porcentaje de remoción de las emisiones. Se calculó a través de la metodología expuesta en la ISO 14064, que el total de emisiones GEI consideradas en SPRG alcanzan un valor de 341069 kg de CO2-eq, y que las remociones dentro de esta se aproximan a los 282715 kg de CO2-eq. A partir de allí se calculó que la huella de carbono de SPRG es igual a 0,36 Kg CO2-eq por tonelada movida, la cual se ve reducida a 0,06 Kg CO2-eq por tonelada movida por las remociones que permite la biomasa. En este documento también se sugieren alternativas de compensación ambiental para ayudar al Puerto de Barranquilla a crecer económica y ambientalmente, ser imagen de responsabilidad ambiental, propiciar mejor calidad de vida para sus trabajadores y contribuir en la lucha contra el cambio climático a nivel internacional. Dentro de estas alternativas se destaca el establecimiento de cobertura vegetal, la implementación de energías renovables, y el mantenimiento preventivo de los vehículos y equipos de SPRG.

In this work, the carbon footprint of the Rio Grande Port Society (SPRG) was calculated under the requirements of ISO 14064. Initially, the identification of greenhouse gas (GHG) sources was made, where it was highlighted that the main GHG generating activities are fuel consumption, electricity consumption and coke storage in the port's yards. In addition, it was identified that SPRG has CO2 sinks, (live barriers) which achieve a percentage of removal of emissions. It is calculated through the methodology exposed in ISO 14064, that the total of GHG emissions considered in SPRG reach a value of 341069 kg of CO2-eq, and that the removals within this approximate the 282715 kg of CO2-eq. From here it is calculated that the carbon footprint of the SPRG is equal to 0.36 Kg CO2-eq per tonne moved, which is reduced to 0.06 kg CO2-eq per ton moved by the removals allowed by the biomass . This document also offers alternatives for environmental compensation to help the Port of Barranquilla grow economically and environmentally, be responsible for environmental responsibility, promote better quality of life for its workers and contribute to the fight against climate change at the international level. Within these alternatives stands out the establishment of vegetal coverage, the implementation of renewable energies, and the preventive maintenance of the vehicles and equipment of SPRG
