Abstract
In this study, the prefeasibility of sustainable concrete is evaluated using a coarse recycled aggregate from a rigid pavement in Barranquilla, for this purpose three stages were developed. First, a market study that includes a diagnosis made through surveys and interviews targeted at a group of selected civil works and at some of the entities involved in the management of waste in the city, the diagnosis is complemented with a geographic mapping that allows to know the concentration level of the RCDs found according to a route established by localities. Second, echnical feasibility consisting of an initial characterization of the materials to be used, the application of an experimental improvement technique (TME) and, the design and development of 4 types of mixtures defined by the percentage of AGN replaced with the AGR in volumes of 0%, 10%, 50% without TME and 50% with TMEs for the manufacturing of 24 cylindrical specimens tested for compression at the age of 28 days. Third, economic assessment through unit cost analysis of sustainable concrete versus conventional concrete. At the end of this study it is determined whether the sustainable concrete proposed in the research is feasible according to the studied parameters and the existing Colombian regulations. Keywords: sustainable concrete, prefeasibility study, recycled concrete aggregate, construction and demolition waste, experimental improvement technique
