This research focused on analyzing the management of solid waste recycling from a rational approach in communities of the Valmore Rodríguez Municipality, State of Zulia. Based on the work of Colomer and Gallardo (2007), Castro and Bernal (2005), Holes (2005) and Leff (2004), the study is of the analytical type with a descriptive field design and a purposive sample of three community councils. The instrument was a questionnaire of 48 items. Results indicate weaknesses in recycling management, showing that it is not present in the communities addressed, which have not considered the feasibility of a rational approach to solving the problem. The study recommends that government agencies take action to implement cognitive tools and practices in this process.
