Abstract
The use of natural gas and the oil exploitation are vital in many countries because the necessities they provide. Hydrocarbons energize the industry and are the main source of energy used today on many economic activities. The structural integrity of these type of transport systems must be maintained optimally, avoiding leaks or ruptures in the pipes, as this directly affects the ecosystem, society and economy. This paper shows a current view of the methods and techniques currently used for protection, monitoring and control of these systems.
