Oportunidades de financiación e inversión en la bolsa mercantil de Colombia
Abstract
In Colombia, the agro industry is at a disadvantage when compared to agro sectors in other countries, not only in terms of productivity and efficiency, but also in terms of new methods of financing and investments. This situation increases the level of difficulty for the agro industry to be competitive in a globalized world, making it more vulnerable when it comes to Economic liberalization. The Non-intermediated Market offers, through the Colombian Mercantile Exchange (Bolsa Mercantil de Colombia-BMC), business roundtables in order to trade commodities for both the public and private sectors, financing and investing instruments such as Repos on CDM’s and Factoring, -among others- that are less expensive and more profitable than the existing ones in the intermediate market. These instruments are analyzed in this project. The existence of a space where actors from this sector can buy and sell their commodities at market prices make these operations more transparent and, decreases the difference between purchasing and selling prices among the regions in Colombia. Furthermore, the presence of the Chamber of Clearing and Settlement generates confidence in order to agro sector actors use the BMC to finance and/or invest.
