The use of rust residues is of great importance in the field of construction, which is why one of the aspects to be taken into account in pigment mortars is durability, which can be affected by the environment where the product is applied . In this investigation, the compressive strength of mortars with traditional pigments and with natural iron oxides is evaluated, where it is evident that the addition of natural iron oxide does not cause any alteration in the mortar resistance parameter, compared to the parameter of resistance of the traditional mortar with synthetic pigment where a variation is observed in the 3rd day of curing and a decrease in the 7 day with respect to its resistance. The analysis by DRX shows us the phases present in P1 (Pigment of natural iron oxide) showing in greater proportion the Magnetite phase with a percentage of 53.8% followed by Monetite with 26.7% and Hedenbergite-Jadeite with 19.3%, presenting in smaller proportion the Halite potassian phase with 0.2%, unlike the P2 sample (synthetic pigment), which has the Magnetite phases in a greater proportion with a percentage of 37.9%, followed by Hematite with 25.6%, Quartz low with 14.6 %, Goethite with 11.2%, Annite with 7.4% and in its lowest percentage Birnessite, sodian with 3.4%.
