Rehabilitación del hospital general de Barranquilla

Abstract

El Centro Histórico de Barranquilla fue declarado Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional por el Ministerio de Cultura previo concepto del Consejo de Monumentos Nacionales, a través de la Resolución 1614 del 26 de Noviembre de 1999. Como quiera que el edificio del hospital está ubicado dentro de dicho centro histórico, es menester realizar acciones encaminadas al rescate y conservación de nuestro patrimonio arquitectónico y en estos momentos estamos realizando esta propuesta de rehabilitación del Hospital General de Barranquilla, para hacer del edificio un espacio de disfrute colectivo, que logre integrar a la comunidad circundante y de la ciudad en general. Es necesario emprender obras como la rehabilitación del Hospital General de Barranquilla, en las cuales se vean involucrados lugares de memoria, se entienda su significado y su relación con la historia de la ciudad. Ello significa valorar el pasado de la urbe y evitar así anacronismos vergonzantes. Al mismo tiempo, es necesario tener en cuenta, que el verdadero valor del patrimonio, llámese arquitectónico, histórico o cultural, está determinado por la inquebrantable relación entre el espacio urbano y los usos sociales que lo han caracterizado a través del tiempo.

The Historical Center of Barranquilla was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest by the Ministry of Culture with the concept of the Council of National Monuments, through Resolution 1614 of November 26, 1999. Since the hospital building is located within said historic center, it is necessary to carry out actions aimed at the rescue and conservation of our architectural heritage and at this moment we are making this proposal for the rehabilitation of the General Hospital of Barranquilla, to make the building a space for collective enjoyment, which manages to integrate the surrounding community and of the city in general. It is necessary to undertake works such as the rehabilitation of the General Hospital of Barranquilla, in which places of memory are involved, its meaning and its relationship with the history of the city are understood. This means valuing the past of the city and avoiding shameful anachronisms. At the same time, it is necessary to bear in mind that the true value of heritage, whether architectural, historical or cultural, is determined by the unbreakable relationship between urban space and the social uses that have characterized it over time.
