   <dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="spa">Este trabajo presenta las prácticas recomendadas&#xd;
por el estándar IEEE C57.110™-2008 para&#xd;
la determinación de las condiciones óptimas de operación&#xd;
de transformadores sometidos a corrientes&#xd;
no sinusoidales. Se analizan los principales efectos&#xd;
de la distorsión armónica sobre los componentes internos&#xd;
del transformador, así como las variaciones&#xd;
en el comportamiento del flujo magnético, clases y&#xd;
tipos de pérdidas, al igual que las recomendaciones&#xd;
prácticas para la evaluación del máximo valor&#xd;
eficaz de corriente de carga no sinusoidal, tanto&#xd;
para transformadores tipo seco como inmersos en&#xd;
líquido. Con estos valores de carga estimados se logra&#xd;
proteger al transformador, asegurando que las&#xd;
pérdidas más altas no superen el valor de las pérdidas&#xd;
para las cuales fue diseñado, evitando, de esta&#xd;
forma, los efectos de fenómenos ocasionados por la&#xd;
presencia de corrientes no sinusoidales.</dim:field>
   <dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="eng">This paper sets forth IEEE Std C57.110&#xd;
™ -2008 recommended practices for determining&#xd;
the optimum operating conditions for a transformer&#xd;
under non-sinusoidal load currents. An&#xd;
analysis on the main harmonic distortion effects&#xd;
of transformer’s internal components, magnetic&#xd;
flux behavior variations, and types of loss was&#xd;
accomplished. Likewise, practical recommendations&#xd;
to assess maximum efficiency values of&#xd;
non-sinusoidal load currents is also completed for&#xd;
both dry-type and liquid-immersed distribution&#xd;
transformers. With these estimated load values,&#xd;
transformers can be protected, ensuring that the&#xd;
highest loss value does not exceed the loss value&#xd;
for which it was designed, thus, avoiding the effects&#xd;
of non-sinusoidal currents phenomena.</dim:field>
